Dear Friend of Good Shepherd

It is such a wonderful pleasure to begin to share with you the developments at the Retreat Centre. We are making steady progress with the ​aesthetic changes to the Chapels of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the St Eugene de Mazenod, together with their adjoining Blessed Sacrament ​Chapels. These are the first of many such remodellings being made that will usher in a new ethos of profound Silence in a spirit of deep ​Prayer, Reflection, and Eucharistic Worship at Good Shepherd Retreat Centre.

Our Blessed Mother will have Her own prominence within these hallowed grounds, bringing with it a calm confidence in Her motherly

intercession and protection. The Oblate Founder, St Eugene de Mazenod and Blessed Joseph Gerard,known to those who associate with the ​Oblates of Mary Immaculate, will have a special importance in this Retreat Centre as well.

We are currently transitioning from a more general space of spiritual activity to a more centred spiritual approach on the Holy Eucharist. ​Hence, the Retreat Centre is now no longer a place for conferences or workshops, as these have often disturbed the quiet prayerful ethos ​that this space now welcomes. The retreats, which I conduct, will thus have a particular attentiveness to the Holy Eucharist (Holy Mass) and ​Eucharistic Adoration, blending each themed retreat into this framework.

Last year we worked extensively on the grounds and gardens around the property. This project, though vast, is a joyful and meaningful work ​in progress. In time, we will develop this already beautiful space so that it may further enhance the spiritual experience of those who come ​here.
